On the morning of February 24th, Russian forces launched a multi-pronged invasion by land, air, and sea on Ukraine. There are early reports of widespread damage, human casualties, as well as population movements towards the west and away from fighting. In anticipation of wide-scale country and regional impact due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Americares is prepared to support the Ministry of Health and other partners with targeted interventions.
Preliminary reports from WHO officials in Ukraine confirmed the urgent need for medicines, medical supplies, and medical professionals with a focus on trauma and primary care services. Our health-focused humanitarian aid for Ukrainians both inside Ukraine and those taking refuge in neighboring countries will focus on Medicine Security, Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs), and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.
